Part of me reviving this blog is so that I can dump all of the ridiculous things I see online here..  For example, this video might give me nightmares. (via The Daily What)

Shiner Beer

Tonight I was catching up on one of the few shows I ever watch, Chuck. Since I really only watch maybe 2 current shows, I use Hulu for all my Chuck needs. Usually, during my viewings, I walk around the apt and get something to drink or do some other shenanigans during the Ads. Tonight: I actually watched the ads. They were all sorts of brilliant and yes, I bought a case of Shiner Blonde tonight because the ads were great. Coincidently enough I just read this article earlier today, consider this my shout out to Shiner: You, sirs/ma’ams, have won.

Below are a couple of the video’s that were fantastic but check out the Shiner YouTube for more Shiner goodness and follow their twitter if you’re so inclined.

ZOMBIE BLOG!

And by Zombie blog… I really just mean I’m bringin this deadness back. No real topic to it.. except whatever randomness I decide I want to put up. Maybe somethin about what’s goin on in my random life, maybe a random trip I went on, my feelings on robots, musings on Texas, or maybe I’ll just ramble.  Either way, it’ll be like my Manhattans: Straight up.

Upon your death you may…

So I decided to glance at my apt contract today and see if there are any weird clauses I should be aware of or anything, no spinning in your chair on Tuesdays or something… And I found one!

Death of Sole Resident. If you are the sole resident, upon your death you may terminate the Lease Contract without penalty with at least 30 days written notice. You will be liable for payment of rent until the latter of: (1) the termination date, or (2) until all possessions in the apartment are removed. You will be liable for all rent, charges, and damages to the apartment until it is vacated, and any removal and storage costs.”

I will be sure to provide 30 days written notice of my death and remove all possessions after.

Geeks Getting Physical

Who says geeks are out of shape, never participate in physical activity, and don’t care at all about the condition of the Earth? Hopefully nobody but if you know of anybody who does, I hope you correct them.

In fact, just a few weeks ago Joe and Carlos (Real Geeks Ride) stopped right here in Fort Wayne, Indiana on their bicycles riding from New Jersey to Oregon. Their mission: Get 1,000 geeks to bike to work. Neither of these guys are professional cyclists, one of them even commented that he’s still getting used to shifting his gears at the right times. Joe is a photography geek, while Carlos is pretty much a geek in general. Their argument for more people [specifically "geeks"] riding their bikes to work? If these two can ride across the country in a couple months, why can’t us other geeks ride a few miles a day to work?

The way I see it, a couple of geeks make this cross country trip on bicycles braving the weather, the distance, and other people in cars [and larger trucks] really is a cool thing to see. Not only does it show geeks really do participate in physical activities it also shows we can be conscious of our means of travel and how it affects the rest of the Earth.

Last I checked their status they were somewhere in Nebraska. If you want to learn more about them, stalk their progress, or meet up with them and ride with them some check out their website or follow them on twitter.

I personally ride my bike a couple times a week and think it’ a great way to escape the computer and add something different to my routine while keeping myself in a little better health at the same time. Not to mention, you can get some pretty cool geek toys for your bike too. Initially, I started exercising and eating “better” because I felt I was starting to put a lot more weight over the past few years than I had before college. Now, I like to do it because I find it a good way to relax and escape for awhile. It feels really good to get out and experience the sunlight sometimes, it really isn’t as bad as I used to think it was.

This prompts me for a question to you. What kind of physical activities do you engage in and what keeps you motivated to do so?

Burger Week – Part 2

Well everybody, I hope you had enough time to digest part 1 of burger week because I’m ready to serve up part 2. Despite some peoples thoughts, I was not tired of burgers by this point, I was really craving some other food but each time I had a burger in front of me I kept drooling just like I was on a burger drought…

Day 3 Dinner Culver’s Double Cheddar Butterburger

Double Chedder Butterburger

Double Cheddar Butterburger

The name of this burger is really deceptive, for one thing, it isn’t double cheddar as much as double the beef patty. For another thing the burger its self does not contain butter, the term “butterburger” actually refers to the bun which is toasted and buttered.  All that being said, this was actually a pretty tasty burger. Almost fast food [but not quite] I was hesitant to have this burger, I was trying to avoid fast food burgers for the week as typically I don’t find them as satisfying as I once did. This [butter]burger was definitely a much better “fast food” burger than any of the other popular chains. Simple, quick, and tasty.

Day 4. Lunch. Dash-In. Pub Burger

Pub Burger

Pub Burger

Dash-In is another wonderful downtown hot spot for lunch which I love to visit. They have several burgers I always have a hard time choosing between and while they are all great, I chose the Pub Burger for my burger week experience. There are two parts of this burger that separates it from the others; it has a great sauce on it and the bun is fantastic. I know it may sound weird talking about the bun of a burger but having a good soft fresh bun always makes my burger experience a little better.

Day 4. Dinner. Granite City. Bedda Chedda Bacon Burger

Bedda Chedda Burger

Who doesn’t love a huge mound of cheese piled on their burger? I know I do. That’s why bedda chedda bacon burger was a must on my list. A half pound of angus beef, with smokehouse bacon, a very ample amount of cheddar cheese, and it has BBQ sauce on it. The waffle fries that I got with it are pretty amazing fries too. Very tasty burger combo.

Day5 Lunch TGIFridays Cheesy Bacon Cheeseburger

Cheesey Bacon Cheeseburger

Cheesy Bacon Cheeseburger

Just in case the cheese from dinner last night wasn’t enough I got the Cheesy Bacon Cheeseburger from TGI Fridays which not only has American cheese on it but also fried provolone. It’s like an awesome combination of burger and cheese sticks. Burger+Fried Cheese=Very tasty for you.

Day 5. Dinner .Steak ‘N Shake. Frisco Melt

Frisco Melt

Frisco Melt

And at last we come to the end of burger week, the always tasty Frisco Melt from Steak and Shake. Its a nice simple burger featuring Steak and Shakes “Frisco sauce”. It wasn’t very filling but by this time I was still full from lunch so this was a nice light burger to finish off the week.

Each of these burgers was amazing in their own way. I tried to vary up the types of burgers I ate and think I did a pretty good job. Some of these burgers you should be able to find around the country, others are Fort Wayne local only.

I am a huge fan of food and you shouldn’t be surprised if you see a few more entries about food around here. That being said, Ribfest is going on soon and I’ll probably be giving a small review of that shortly.

Burger Week – Part 1

Well, as some of you may know, a couple weeks ago I did what was dubbed “Burger Week” and during that week I ate burgers for lunch and dinner Monday through Friday, 10 burgers in 5 days. I’ll tell you what, it was a very tasty week. So for those who asked, here is my summary of burgerweek.

Day 1 – Lunch – Red Robin – Royal Red Robin Burger

Royal Red Robin Burger

Royal Red Robin Burger

This is easily my favorite burger at Red Robin and definitely in the top 3 of burger week. Not only is it a well cooked piece of beef with cheese, lettuce, and bacon; it also has an egg on it! To several people this sounds disgusting but if you have not tried it I definitely suggest you do, it really adds a little extra to a tasty burger.

Day 1 – Dinner – Powers Hamburgers – Cheeseburgers

Cheeseburgers

Cheeseburgers

The picture does not give these little burgers justice at all but these little guys are some of Fort Wayne best kept secrets. Very tasty burgers, however, I tend to opt out of the massive amounts of onions they place on them. If you haven’t had powers I’ll warn you, you will smell like onions when you leave.

Day 2 – Lunch – Chili’s – Jalapeno Smokehouse Bacon Bigmouth Burger

Jalepeno Smokehouse Bacon Bigmouth Burger

Jalapeno Smokehouse Bacon Bigmouth Burger

As this was the only burger of the week I almost forgot to take a picture of I think I can easily put this as the top burger I had. A nice tasty piece of burger, lettuce, cheese, thick cut bacon, jalapeno ranch sauce, and jalapenos make this a very, very tasty burger. I highly recommend this burger as a must have.

Day 2 – Dinner – Bills City Grill – Bacon Cheeseburger

Bills City Grill

Bacon Cheeseburger

This nice a simple burger is also near the top of the list. Two things stick out the most about this great burger to me. One being the way the cheese melts all over the burger, the other is the bun. While you might be thinking a bun is a bun, that is definitely not the case with this burger. It’s nice and soft with just the right feel. Bill’s City Grill [once known as Mid City Grill] should definitely make your list of burgers to try in the near future.

Day 3 – Lunch – Hall’s Gas House - Oaxaca burger

Oaxaca burger

Oaxaca burger

This burger is crazy! It combines 2 awesome things into one patty of meat; beef and chorizo. A nice beef patty stuffed with chorizo, topped with lettuce, cilantro, and red chili mayonnaise [red onion and tomato if you're into that sorta thing too]. This combination creates is a burger with a lot of full flavorful kick to it. On top of how great the burger tastes Don Hall’s Gas House has been recently remodeled and looks pretty nice since then. One more of my top picks for Burger Week.

Burgerweek consisted of 10 burgers over 5 days; lunch and dinner, Monday through Friday. This is the first half of the week, check back soon for how the rest of the week turned out.
